After winning Tuesday’s game against Austin Marble Falls, the Varsity softball team advanced to Regional Playoffs. They dominated on Tuesday in Waco against Marble Falls. The first four innings we close until the Lady Mustangs pulled away in the top of the fourth inning scoring eight runs. Their hard work paid off as the Lady Mustangs won 14-4. The following Thursday, the team travelled to Waco once more for the Regional playoff game where they faced Round Rock Concordia. The Mustangs had a slow start, as Concordia had the lead most of the game. However, in the fifth inning, the Lady Mustangs began to make a come back scoring four runs. It was the bottom of the seventh and the Lady Mustangs had one more chance. Freshman Sydney Wible hits for a single up the middle and eventually scoring making the score 6-9. The Mustangs loaded the bases with two outs, unfortunately, Concordia’s pitcher struck out the Lady Mustangs sixth batter and lost 9-6 against Concordia. This year’s team worked hard to earn second in District. Senior Captain, Lexi Vance said, “It has been a blast getting to know these girls and playing with them. I am so sad softball is over, but I know next year’s team is going to do big things.” With this team being a fairly young team, the Lady Mustangs have a very strong future.
