The coach of the week is, varsity football coach, Chance Gray. Gray has been coaching for seven years, all of which have been at MCA. His motivation for coaching is, “to share how immense Christ’s love is for each one of us and how we can experience a joyful life responding to that love as part of the body. In his writing, the Apostle Paul used athletics as a teaching tool for our spiritual life. At its best athletics is a tool to deepen our trust in Christ and His eternal promises, and to teach us how to live out our faith as part of a body of believers.” Gray’s favorite passage in the bible  is 1 John 4:7-21 because it calls us to consider how much we are loved by God and that the true response to that love is to love God and love people. Gray coaches Middle School and High School football. His ultimate goal when coaching is, “I coach so that young people might be confronted with the truth of coming judgment and God’s amazing provision in Christ. The character formation desired is that Christ would be formed in our athletes and that our championships would give us an opportunity to tell others where our true hope is found.”
