Middle School Girls Basketball

Van Alstyne Tournament

The middle school girls basketball team participated in the Van Alstyne tournament on January 13th. The girls played a total of three games through out the course of the day. The first game was against Whitewright and they ended up losing 35-15, Eighth grader Maddie Clark helped her team out with making a total of eight baskets in the first game. The second game of the day was against Prestonwood, the final score was 14-10 with another loss for the Mustangs. In the final game against Sherman, the MCA Mustangs ended with a winning score of 32-19. During the game, eighth grader Karlene Shelton was able to score a total of ten points off of rebounds, and eighth grader Maddie Clark ended with twelve points total, helping to lead their team to the first win of their season. Coach Anderson said:

Overall, even though we lost two games, the tournament went well. The girls played hard all three games, and we improved each game and brought us our first win of the season. No matter what the score is, these girls never give up, and I couldn’t be more proud of them for that.
