On Thursday March 29, all the students apart of the National Honor Society helped in the Special Olympics. The event was held at the Ron Poe Stadium in McKinney. Different schools from all over the North Texas area came to cheer on all the students that participated in the event. The NHS volunteers were assigned to different activities and areas to help out. Some students helped in the concessions stand, others helped run the different events that took place.  Junior Lizzie Weichel was assigned to help with long jump and also helped out at the podium. Weichel said, “My favorite part of the day was seeing the joy on the kids’ faces when they were being medaled.” Junior Naty Tubiolo was assigned to the tennis ball throw. Tubiolo said, “It was really cool because kids that were in wheelchairs could still participate in the event part which was awesome. My favorite part was being able to help kids that can’t normally participate in school sports, and allow them to have fun and be active.” NHS does many things around campus and the community to serve others.
