Mustang Wrestling Team finishes third at the RL Turner Christmas Opener

On December 7 and 8, the Wrestling team traveled to RL Turner for the Christmas Opener tournament. Varsity Wrestling wrestled Friday and Saturday, JV wrestled only Saturday. Thirty-two teams competed in the tournament, and the Varsity wrestling finished third. Sophomore Cort Doyle got first place in the 132 weight class. Senior Caleb Doyle got first place in the 182 weight class. Senior Rex Collins got first place in 170 weight class. Sophomore Nate Gwynn received third place at 106. Senior, Graham Kraft came in fifth place in the 152 weight group. Junior Varsity dominated the JV tournament with sophomore Hayden Faulkner and junior Christian Simonsen getting first in their divisions. Freshmen Conrad Souther and Sutton Mayberry placed second in their categories, and freshman Matthew Wong got third. Junior Evan Petrek comments about the optimistic future of the team, “We fought hard this past weekend at RL Turner. There is a lot of talent in this team, and I am looking forward to taking the title State Champs.”  The team will travel to Oklahoma on Friday for their next tournament.
