This past week, April 16, the MCA track team traveled two hours to Brookhill School to compete in their district meet. This year was different from past years because instead of the top four athletes qualifying for the regional track meet, only the top two qualified. The MCA athletes needed to compete their best against Prince of Peace Christian School and Trinity Christian in order to qualify. For the running events, MCA had runners qualify in the 100m, 300m hurdles, 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m races. Three relay teams also qualified for regionals: boy’s 4x200m and 4x400m and girl’s 4x100m. The only field athlete to make it out of district was senior Josh Pawlish who placed first in both shot put and discus. Those that qualified continue to prepare for the regional meet, where everyone has the potential to move on to State.
