On January 24th, the MCA Indoor Track Team traveled up to Oklahoma to compete in the Oklahoma High School Invitational. This was a one-day event, and it was the indoor track team’s third event to compete in. Junior Maliq Brock placed second overall in the 400m dash running a time of 51.84 and Junior Cooper Roach tied for fourth in the high jump, jumping a height of 5’11. When Cooper was asked about his performance he said “We have worked very hard in the past few weeks and our hard work was shown in this track meet.” Head Coach Darrick Ware has been also been responsible for coaching all the runners and driving the team out of state for the past three meets. In commenting on the season Coach Ware said, “This indoor track season has been incredible! Every week I am seeing our kids improve. It has been fun to see the doors it has opened up. Many of the kids have been contacted by colleges. Just this week Ashten Hawthorne is going on a recruiting a recruiting visit to Arizona Christian University.” The MCA Indoor Track Team will travel back to Oklahoma to compete in another meet this weekend.
