After winning their first playoff game, the MCA varsity girls soccer team advanced to Area Playoffs and took on Southwest Christian on February 23. The Lady Mustangs went into the wind and sun throughout the first half. Southwest made four goals, leaving the score at 4-0 by halftime. The Lady Mustangs came out in the second half with energy and senior Micah McDowell placed the ball into the top of the net in the first few minutes of the second half. Next, senior Annie Weichel scored off a free kick in the eighteenth minute followed by McDowell with the last goal of the game for the Lady Mustangs, ending with the final score of 3-6, which brought the season to an end. Weichel comments on this season saying “I am so thankful for this past season it was definitely the highlight of my soccer career at MCA. I am excited to see what the team continues to accomplish in the future.”
