Mustangs Finish 2nd in District Track Meet

The McKinney Christian Academy Track and Field team competes in the regional meet to qualify for state.

On Thursday, April 21, the Mustang Varsity Track and Field teams traveled to the Brook Hill School in Tyler, Texas to compete in the TAPPS 5A District 2 meet. The district meet determines who qualifies to compete in the next round, the regional championship. The teams that would qualify in the top three would advance to regionals. The girls team would finish second as regional runner-up finalist. Sophomore Kaylin Starling qualified in shot, all of the girls relay’s qualified which included juniors, Belle Kanz, Lexi Pogue, Abigail Thomas, Leigh Evan Kitzmiller, and freshmen Jaden Brock and Kadence Ackmann, The boys would go on to win district, with multiple first place finishes. The boys finished first in the 4×200 race with seniors Sutton Mayberry, Daniel Kanz, Alex Gicheru, and sophomore Jacob Dover Smith. We asked Sutton Mayberry what he thought about the track meet and he said, ” We competed very well today, but we still have a goal to win state. So we are on to the next race.” The Mustangs will be competing in the TAPPS 5A North Regionals at UTA to qualify for State.
