On Friday, October 7, McKinney Christian Academy’s Varsity football team took on the Home School Athletic Association Angels at Frisco Emerson High School. After the first drive, the Mustangs gave up a long touchdown run, but didn’t give up their fight. The Mustangs fought back and eventually built up a 14 to 12 lead at halftime. Leading most of the second half, the Mustangs pulled out a victory giving them their first win of the season with a score of 27 to 26. Head Football Coach Dan Whitsett added that, “The first win feels good, definitely happy that the guys got to experience that and play a solid four quarters and finish the way they did. Once again, there was a lot of adversity, but the guys just kept answering and making plays all the way to the end.” When asked what changes have been made, Whitsett said, “There haven’t been any real big changes, but maintaining and emphasizing the belief that if you keep chopping wood that good things will come. There are no shortcuts on the extra mile.” The Mustangs play at Ron Poe Stadium on Friday, October 14, in their first district game against the Shelton Chargers.
