The Mustang basketball team travelled to Sanger on Thursday to play in the annual Sanger Tournament. The Mustangs started strong, beating Ferris High School in a shootout 63-58. In the same day, the Mustangs fell to the Aubrey Chaparrals 47-74. When asked about what the team could’ve done better Senior Bobby McWard said, “We could have communicated better on defense in order to stop their big forward from scoring in the paint.”  After the loss, the Mustangs bounced back, beating Sanger by three points with a score of 49-46. The Mustangs lost their last game to Krum High School by two points in overtime. They finished fourth place overall in the tournament. With district coming up, the Mustang team is still confident in their ability to perform well in district play. McWard said, “I think we have a very good chance of going undefeated in district if we keep improving all of December. Our district is tough, but we have a chance to be great as we keep playing together.” The Mustangs next game is at home on Monday, December 5, against Pottsboro.
