Mustang Sports Winter Break Recap

Mustangs’ winter sports continued over the holiday break.

Over winter break, McKinney Christian Academy’s Upper School sports competed in tournaments and district games. The Mustangs Varsity boys basketball team played in the Caprock Tournament, the largest high school basketball tournament in the country. The boys went 4-1, with the only loss being in the semi-final game. Seniors Nathan McMahon and Bobby McWard were selected by the tournament directors for the All Tournament team. The boys also played Fort Worth All-Saints in a non district matchup and won.

The Girls Varsity basketball team hosted and played in the 14th annual MCA Round Up tournament. The Lady Mustangs went 2-1, with their only loss being in the championship.

The Varsity girls soccer team opened up district and hosted Dallas Covenant, who advanced to the state finals last year. The girls pulled out a win 3-2, with one goal scored by senior Preslea Wilson and the other two by junior Ava Thompson.

The Varsity boys soccer team traveled to Temple Christian to compete in a non-district matchup. The boys won 3-0 with two goals by senior Emilio Sanchez and one goal by sophomore Trip Barber. The boys play Colleyville Covenant next in a district matchup.

The Mustang Wrestling team had five wrestlers compete at Saint Marks in Dallas. The team improved and had multiple match wins. The team also competed in Azle over the break. There next meet is at Bishop Gorman this weekend, January 14.
