On February 6, McKinney Christian Academy’s varsity girls soccer team played at home against Pantego Christian. All seniors were recognized after the game since this was the last home district game. The Lady Mustangs started off with a strong 5-1 lead at the half and finished the game winning 9-2. Senior Sarah Krusing scored a hat trick and was the leading scorer of the match. The seniors playing this year are Kate Nordhaus, Sarah Krusing, Alexa Harriman, Preslea Wilson, Gabby Gordon, Leigh Evan Kitzmiller, Abby Thomas and manager Angelina Li. Nordhaus said, “I have loved being able to be a part of a team that feels like family. These girls are my best friends and I would not want to spend my last year at MCA with anyone else.” The next game for the Lady Mustangs will be on Thursday, February 9 at Colleyville Covenant.
The boys also faced off against Pantego Christian. Before the end of the first half, Liam Corley made the first goal of the game putting the Mustangs up 1-0. As the game went on, Pantego scored twice after Corley’s second goal of the game. The score was 2-2 at the end of the second half. Since there was a tie, both teams went into a 10-minute overtime. The Mustangs lost after Pantego Christian scored the final “sudden death” goal. The varsity boys’ next soccer game will be on Thursday, February 9, against Colleyville Covenant.
