The McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs boys varsity baseball team played in the Texas Private School Classic tournament starting on Friday, February 17. The boys played in three games over the weekend with the first game at Colleyville Covenant against Lake Country Christian School. The Eagles took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added a run in the bottom of the third making it 5-0. The Mustangs did not have an answer until a five run inning to tie the game in the top of the sixth. Another three run inning by the Mustangs gave them a 8-5 lead which was enough for a win, 8-7. Sophomore Marc Jensen led the team going 1-3 with a double.

The second game in the double header was against Grapevine Faith. The Lions went up 13-1 after two innings and that was a big enough lead to end the game in four innings. Sophomore Judd Witte led the way going 1-3 with a double in the last inning.

On Saturday the Mustangs played the Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes. The Mustangs went up 1-0 with a single by Witte that allowed junior Jax Marshall to score. The Storm put up eight runs in the final three innings which was enough to win and beat the Mustangs 8-3. Witte led the hit column with a single and a double in the game going 2-3. On an overview of the weekend Head Coach Brady James says, “We showed a lot of positives this weekend even though we did not end up finishing how we want to. Our boys are starting to play some really good baseball and it’s exciting to see where we end up.”

Look for your varsity Mustangs on Thursday, February 23 at Noah Field against Prestonwood and Friday at Prestonwood Christian Academy.
