On Tuesday February 21, the McKinney Christian Academy girls varsity soccer team defeated Lakehill Preparatory School in the Area round of the TAPPS State Playoffs. Starting the game off strong, the Lady Mustangs dominated the field to create plays which will help set the stage for the rest of the game. Senior Sarah Krusing scored the first goal to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead off of an assist from sophomore Kadence Ackmann in the first 20 minutes. Krusing said, “I’m proud of everyone for stepping up in such a big game. I’m super excited to play in regionals and hopefully finish the road to state.” In the second half, the Lady Mustangs kept the possession for 70 percent of the game. With less than ten minutes left in the second half, freshman Tatum Barnard scored to put the Mustangs up 2-0. Barnard said, “I thought we played really good and played one of our best games of this season. Everyone played and communicated well with each other.” The Lady Mustangs advance to Regionals against Brentwood Christian School. The game will be held on February 24 at Reicher Catholic High School in Waco, Texas at 5 p.m.
