During Spring Break on March 7, the varsity boys baseball team hosted their first game of the 2023 district season against the Dallas Covenant Knights. Junior Connor Jarzombek started the game off by going three up three down and getting the Mustangs to the plate. Junior Jax Marshall led the way by hitting a first pitch solo homerun over the left center wall. The Mustangs never looked back and went up 8-0 after the first 2 innings. After a 6 inning run rule the Mustangs carried out a victory 12-2. Notable players of the game were Marshall who hit for the cycle and Jarzombek who went 6 innings pitched, zero earned runs, zero base on balls and seven strikeouts.

On Thursday March 9 the boys traveled to The Shelton School to play the second game of the series with Dallas Covenant. After the score being 0-0 through two innings the Mustangs put up nine runs to walk away with the win 15-2. Sophomore Marc Jensen went 2-3 with a double and a single while also throwing a complete game of 6 innings and eight strikeouts getting the win for the Mustangs. Heading into the next week, head coach Brady James said, “This week against POPCS is a big week for our district standings. If we want to win a district championship we need to take care of business and sweep these guys. Our boys are well prepared and if we play how we should, it will be a fun week.”

The Mustangs will play their next district series against Prince of Peace Christian School on March 14th at home and March 17th away.
