On Thursday, March 23, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team traveled to Frisco, Texas to face off against Legacy Christian Academy in a non-district matchup. There was a big rivalry between the two teams as they both had a win and a loss against each other prior to this game. Previously, MCA’s 2022 win put Frisco Legacy out of the playoffs. In the beginning, the game started off slow with neither team scoring in the first inning. In the second inning, the Mustangs got things started with a triple by junior Caden Brown, scoring one run. This hit gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. Then, Legacy came back and matched the score in the same inning. After that, the Mustangs put up one run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning. Legacy struggled to put runs on the board and only scored one more run in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning, the Mustangs managed to score six runs. This offensive raid was led by sophomores Teague Spivey and Marc Jensen, senior Nate McMahon and junior Connor Jarzombek who all drove in runs in the inning. The game ended with a final score of 11-2. After the game, Jensen shared his thoughts saying, “I thought that the game overall was heated and we were in it the whole game. There was not a glimpse of loss in the air one bit. Also, the energy in the atmosphere was through the roof and we knew walking in there we were going to win.” Ultimately, this game improved the Mustang’s record to 8-6 on the season.

Their next game is away on Friday, March 24 against Pantego.
