MCA Varsity Track Steals the Show At Their Second Meet Of the Year

On Thursday, March 30, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity track team traveled to Bullard, Texas to compete in the Brook Hill Dave Vinson Invitational track meet. The Mustangs achieved medals in 16 different events. The Lady Mustangs swept in all three relays and won 1st place overall. Furthermore, the boys won 2nd place overall. Here are the medals won by the Mustangs at the meet. For the men’s individual events, junior Noah Wheeler placed second in the 200 meter, junior David Roller placed second in the 800 meter, first in the 1600 meter and first in the 3200 meter. For the women’s individual events, freshman Avery Schall placed first in the 100 meter, sophomore Jaden Brock placed second in the 200 meter, senior Belle Kanz placed second in the 400 meter, freshman Alyssa Prahl placed second in the 300 meter hurdles, junior Kaylin Starling placed first in shot put, sophomore Kadence Ackmann placed second in long jump and freshman Dylan Neuner placed first in triple jump. For the men’s team events, Wheeler, junior Micah Faulkner, freshman Adam Gicheru, and sophomore Caleb Atherton placed third in the 4×200 meter relay. Also, Wheeler, Gicheru, freshman Colton Miller and Faulkner placed third in the 4×400 meter relay. For the women’s team events, senior Lexi Pogue, Brock, Kanz and Schall placed first in the 4×100 meter relay. Next, Pogue, Brock, freshman Tatum Barnard and Ackmann placed first in the 4×200 meter relay. Lastly, Pogue, Barnard, Kanz and Ackmann placed first in the 4×400 meter relay. After the meet, Prahl said, “I think we did very good, especially winning gold with our 4×4 team running for the first time, of course, there is always room for improvement.” Their next track meet is on Thursday, April 6 at First Baptist Academy.
