On Tuesday April 11, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team hosted the Dallas Christian Chargers. The game started off with a two-run error by Dallas Christian, giving the Mustangs an early lead in the first inning. In the third inning, junior Caden Brown hit a double bringing in two more runs for the Mustangs. After that, the Mustangs managed to score two runs in the fifth inning. Then, the team continued their control of the game with another three runs in the sixth inning, led by sophomores John Clark and Mark Jensen and junior Connor Jarzombek. Meanwhile, Dallas Christian could not keep up as they only scored two runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning. In the end, the Mustangs defeated the Dallas Christian Chargers by a score of 9-3. This game was also staff appreciation night which means that the players invited their favorite staff members to come out to the game and throw the first pitch.

That same week, on Friday April 14, the MCA Varsity Baseball team faced off against the Dallas Christian Chargers again only this time the game was being played away at Dallas Christian. This game got off to a slow start as neither team scored in the first inning. Then, in the second inning, the Mustangs’ bats came alive, as Clark delivered a clutch single to drive Brown who got on base by getting hit by a pitch at the beginning of the inning. This run gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. From there on, the game was mainly a battle between the two pitchers. Jarzombek, the pitcher for the Mustangs, didn’t allow a single run against Dallas Christian, throwing a complete game shutout. Ultimately, the Chargers’ defense failed to prevent the Mustangs from scoring the one crucial run that secured their victory in a 1-0 game. After the game, Jarzombek was asked about the series and he replied, “The team did great in both games. We out-hit and out-pitched them which led to us winning both games. Hopefully, we can keep this up as we finish out district this week.”

These two games improved the Mustangs’ district record to 8-2. Their next game is away on Tuesday, April 18 against Tyler All Saints.
