Varsity Track Competes in District Meet
Varsity track travels to Tyler for the district meet.

On Tuesday, April 18, the varsity track team traveled to the Brook Hill School to compete in the TAPPS 4A District II track meet. As the team arrived at the meet, a five hour lightning delay began. The meet resumed immediately after. Junior Kaylin Starling got second place in shot put for throwing 32′-10.75”. Sophomore Caleb Atherton got second in high jump by clearing 5′ 8”. Starling and Atherton will be the only two people to advance to regionals in field events.
In running events, junior David Roller finished first in the 3200 meter with a time of 10:40, third in the 800 meter with a time of 2:03 and first in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:36, two personal records for Roller. Junior Noah Wheeler received first place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.34. The boys 4×400 meter relay team consisting of juniors Micah Faulkner and Wheeler, and freshmen Adam Gicheru and Colton Miller received third place. The girls 4×100 relay earned first place, the 4×200 team received third place and the 4×400 team received first. The 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams included sophomores Jaden Brock and Kadence Ackmann, freshman Avery Schall and senior Belle Kanz. The girls 4×400 relay team included sophomores Brock and Ackmann and seniors Leigh Evan Kitzmiller and Kanz. Also qualifying was freshman Alyssa Prahl in the 100m hurdles, Kitzmiller in the 300m hurdles, senior Lexi Pogue in the 100m dash and Kanz in the 400m dash. The Regional track meet is Wednesday, April 26, at the University of Texas at Arlington.
