On Saturday, January 27, the McKinney Christian Academy Middle School wrestling team competed in the Texas Middle School Prep State. Unfortunately, the squad was inhibited by injuries and illness, so only six MCA wrestlers competed. Of those six, three won at least one match. Ultimately, the team ended with a podium finisher. Eighth Grader Dusty Thibodeau had a great day, ending up taking the first place spot in prep state for the 120 lb weight class. Thibodeau only allowed his opponents to score two points. He earned pins in three of his four matches and a major decision in the other match, earning bonus points for his team in all his matches. The Mustangs had a great time at the meet with Thibodeau saying “I had a lot of fun this was definitely my best meet yet and a great way to end a great season.”
The boys wrap up their run with a first place qualifier in prep state for an ultimately successful season.
