On Tuesday, November 5, the McKinney Christian Academy Varsity men’s basketball team faced off against HSAA for their home opener. Students and staff were dismissed early to gather in the gym and show their support for the basketball team during their highly anticipated home opener. This game had a white-out theme, with each person in attendance receiving a white T-shirt to wear. Before the game, the student section was handed snowballs. When the Mustangs scored their first basket, the students excitedly threw the snowballs onto the court. The Mustangs started the game off slowly as the score between the two teams was close. However, the Mustangs turned up the heat in the second half and pulled away from HSAA. The top scorer for the Mustangs was senior John Clark, who scored 25 points with five straight three-point shots in the third quarter. Seniors Drew Hamilton and Jace Scott were tied with 10 points apiece. Ultimately, the Mustangs defeated HSAA with a final score of 73-53. After the game, Clark talked about the game, saying, “I think we all came together as a team in the third quarter, and I think for me, I stopped thinking about my shot and just really let my mechanics take over. As long as I can contribute to the team, that is a really big thing.”
Their next game is on Friday, November 8, at home against Harvest Christian.
