On Thursday, December 12, the McKinney Christian Academy Varsity men’s soccer faced Tyler All Saints to open district play. The Mustangs started hot, scoring two goals in the first half by juniors Noah Melton and Grady Rodgers. The Mustangs kept up the heat with another goal by junior Kody Zbranek to open up the second half. The Mustangs would make two detrimental mistakes, scoring two own goals, making the score 3-2. With some defensive masterclass by sophomore Luke Dreffs and juniors Nate Krusing and Hutson Clayton, the Mustangs held off the Trojans for a 3-2 victory. When Zbranek was asked how he thought the team performed in the match, he replied, “It felt great to get a district win. It felt like our team played more in sync this week. We played one of our best games so far.”
The Mustang’s next game is at home versus Dallas Covenant on Thursday, January 9.
