On Saturday, March 1, the McKinney Christian Academy debate team participated in over 24 debates and won over half of them! The team’s leaders were junior, Alyssa Prahl, and senior Luke Mohler. These students prepared their team sufficiently for the debate and led them well for their first tournament. Senior captain Luke Mohler received first place and won all of his debates 4-0. Debate teacher Phillip Davis was asked his thoughts and said, “Speaking of Lucas, this was his final year competing at the Shamrock, and what a journey. I’ll never forget Lucas after his first competitive debate all those years ago, practically drained and shellshocked; contrasted with the image of him after his debate this year, smiling and cheeks flushed from what he describes as the best debate in which he’d ever competed.” Junior Colton Miller was also asked his thoughts on how the weekend debate went, he said “it was exhilarating and overall a fun experience to be included in, although tiring it’s like I always say, I loved many, trusted few and always paddled my own canoe.”
They’re now moving forward to TAPPS on April 1 and plan to collect more MCA medals.
