Over Missions Week, a group of McKinney Christian Academy Upper School students traveled to El Zapote, Guatemala, to serve the people of the village. The mission was led by Mr. Roller, the Crespis, the Cowans, the Chinners, and the Boyds. The group enjoyed two culture days, attending a local church, spending time shopping in the markets of Antigua and hiking the Pacaya volcano. The rest of the week was dedicated to serving at Source of Hope, the local school. The group was able to repaint both the exterior and interior of the building. On the last day, they hosted a VBS, where they shared the Gospel with the children. They also organized a fiesta for the students, with pizza, ice cream, and piñatas. Senior, Kadence Ackmann, reflected on her experience, saying, “It was such a fun trip and I loved getting to minister to the kids and show the love of God to others.” On the final night, the group visited a nearby resort, where they enjoyed one last meal with some of the school’s teachers. The trip was filled with unforgettable memories and bonds that will last a lifetime.
