On Friday, April 11, the MCA varsity track team traveled to Prince of Peace to compete in the last district meet. To advance in regional play, athletes must place at least fourth place in their event. At MCA, twelve athletes will advance to regionals. These students include Avery Schall, Jaden Brock, Alyssa Prahl, Sadie Zbranek, Harry Thompson, Cody Dow, Colton Miller, Caleb Atherton, Rydon Lansford, Adam Gicheru, Dusty Thibodeaux, and Asher Huffman. In the girl’s category, Schall placed third in the one hundred, Brock placed third in the two hundred, Schall placed fourth in the two hundred, Zbranek placed third in the four hundred, Prahl placed third in 300m hurdles, and Brock also placed first in the four hundred. Schall was asked about her thoughts after finishing her last race. “Although we didn’t have as many meets this year to prepare for districts, we took the extra time to focus on the basics and our work really paid off.” The girls ran in the 4×100 and placed second. In the boy’s category, Huffman placed second in the 110 hurdles. The boys relay placed fourth in both the 4×200 and 4×400. Lastly, Atherton placed second in the high jump.
The next MCA varsity track meet is Thursday, April 25, at University of Texas at Arlington.
