On Saturday, April 26, the McKinney Christian Varsity Baseball team faced Lubbock Christian in the area round of the playoffs. The Mustangs won their district, going a perfect 8-0, so this was their first playoff game. The Mustangs started this game very hot, scoring first in the first inning, going up 2-0 while holding Lubbock to zero. Senior Marc Jensen was on the mound for the Mustangs, and he allowed no runs through the first few innings. This trend continued until the fourth inning when Lubbock Christian would scratch off two runs and tie the game. Both pitchers dominated until Jensen stepped into the box and would untie the game with a two-run home run, giving the Mustangs a 4-2 lead. Jensen would continue to pitch great. In the bottom of the sixth, junior Porter Carroll drove in two more runs, along with another one scored earlier in the inning, so the Mustangs would take a 7-3 lead in the last inning. Senior Jackson Johnson came in to close out the game for the Mustangs and would do precisely that. The McKinney Christian varsity baseball team will advance to the Regional round of the playoffs, and face Colleyville Covenant on Thursday, May 1.
