On Monday, May 5, McKinney Christian Academy hosted its annual art showcase. Middle and Upper school Art students could display their art pieces from the year. Lots of different artwork was displayed, ranging from 3D to 2D art. Several of these students won TAPPS awards along with individual awards. The seniors showed off their AP artwork at the showcase. Each senior had a table full of different artwork they completed throughout the year. The students who had a table were Saylor Wood, Ava Leffingwell, Katia Gordon, and Ella Van Voorst. High school art teacher, Ashley Brugel, was asked about her thoughts on the showcase. “I love these girls, and I am so sad to not have them next year! I am so proud of all their accomplishments, and I think it’s neat that they get to submit their portfolios to college boards for AP credit.”

Tatum Barnard, Business Manager
Tatum Barnard has been attending MCA since kindergarten and is now a junior. This will be her third year on the newspaper staff. Barnard will be playing soccer for her school in the winter. In her free time, she enjoys being with her friends, family, and playing competitive soccer. Her favorite part of MCA is the Christian community she is surrounded by every day. Barnard’s favorite verse is Ephesians 2:3-5.
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.”

Bailey Gerardis, staff writer
Hi, I’m Bailey and I’m a freshman. I have been attending MCA since 3rd grade. I enjoy playing volleyball, being with friends, and being with family. This is my first year in newspaper and I’m very excited. My favorite MCA memory is going to the championship for D1 in 8th grade and having an undefeated season. My favorite bible verse is Psalms 27:19.
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.”
