On Monday, May 12, select students were inducted into the National Honor Society. NHS is a nationwide organization for high school students. NHS members at MCA are students who consistently represent attributes of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Some requirements must be met to be a part of this organization, selecting students who are exhibiting and maintaining NHS chapter and MCA standards in character, conduct, and servant leadership. This event started with the MCA NHS advisor, Jamie Oberdieck, recognizing the current members. Following that, new members stood up and recited the induction pledge and promised to reflect on their school well. After the inductees said their pledge, they came up one by one to sign their names in the induction book. Next, they received their certificates from the Upper School Principal, Kyle Morill. Lastly, senior members were presented with their stoles, which they will wear at graduation on May 16. Following the ceremony, the students were given cake to celebrate their achievement of making NHS. Junior Tatum Barnard was asked about her thoughts on the ceremony. “I was very honored to be chosen to participate in NHS for another year, and I’m so proud of all the new Students this year for the accomplishments they gained by being part of NHS.”
