The start of the new MCA school year means many new faces around all three campuses. This year, there are 19 new staff members at MCA. There are six new Lower School teachers, three new Middle School teachers, one new Upper School teacher, two new administrators, two new Fine Arts teachers, and five new administrative staff. The new Lower School teachers include Krystal Hagstrom, Megan Edwards, Kristen Garza, Anne Falcon, Allison Reddick and Karen Calderon. The new Middle School teachers include Lindsey Bini, Irma Gonzalez and Kelly Rothacker. The New Upper School teacher is Jane Mitchell. The new office administrators include Laura Labunski in Lower School and Tanetha Corbin in Middle School. Some of our new Fine Arts teachers include Jeremiah Williams and Flint Weed. The new administrative staff includes Ann Marie Tennison, Warren Truesdale, Tony Martinez, Chelsea Meenagh and Gene Potts.
My name is Irma Gonzalez. I’m originally from Mexico but was raised in California and Washington State. I’ve been teaching for two years, starting with Pre-K and now stepping into a new role as a Spanish teacher. I enjoy hiking, traveling, and exploring new restaurants with my family.Hi, my name is Warren Truesdale I am originally from San Antonio, Texas. I played quarterback at Angelo State University; earned a Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary; currently a PhD candidate in Bible Exposition at DTS and serves as an adjunct professor. My previous roles are Middle School Minister and Director of Youth Ministry at Dallas Bible Church; High School Bible Teacher and Bible Department Head at Prestonwood Christian Academy North. I am married to Shelby (also on staff at MCA); and have four children (Aubrey, Carter, Callum, Hadley) My favorite teams are the Chicago Bears, San Antonio Spurs and hobbies are working out, studying Hebrew and Greek and playing golf.My name is Tony Martinez. I’m the Assistant Athletic Director. I’ll be over the boy’s athletic programs. I coach football at MCA and have coached for over 15 years with 7 State Championships. I am from Fort Worth and went to Nolan Catholic High School. I started my college career at Bucknell University and transferred to Austin College. In my free time I like to hang out with my family and keep my five-year-old entertained.My name is Laura Labunski. I am originally from Arlington, Texas and the oldest of five children in my family. I attended Baylor University for undergrad and received my master’s degree from UNT. I have taught & worked in education for 15 years and have recently returned to serve as the Lower School’s Front Desk Receptionist after staying home with my kids for a few years. My hobbies include shopping and all things fashion, traveling, and reading. I also love spending time with friends and family. My favorite food is a tie between sushi & Mexican food, and I have an interest in and love designing spaces. My favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28, and I’m excited to serve MCA this year in the Lower School.Hi, my name is Meghan Edwards. I was born and raised in South Africa, where I grew up on a small farm and discovered my love for teaching. I hold a Bachelor of Education degree and have over 20 years of teaching experience across a variety of grade levels, from kindergarten to fourth grade. In addition to classroom teaching, I worked in technology integration for preschool, focusing on making STEM and technology meaningful for young learners, and have presented at numerous conferences on this topic. Before moving to the United States, I also served as an assistant principal. Three years ago, my family and I moved to Texas, and for the past two years, I have been teaching first grade at a small private school while also earning my Dyslexia certification in Orton-Gillingham. I have been married to my husband, Nic, for 19 years. Together we have two wonderful daughters: Rachel and Kim. As a family, we love exploring new coffee shops, fishing, golfing, and spending quality time together. My name is Anne Falcon and this will be my 14th year in education between Texas and New York State. I received a bachelor’s degree in childhood education from The State University of New York at Oneonta and received a master’s degree in Literacy from The State University of New York at Albany. Anne has been married to her husband, Daniel, for 7 years. They have 2 sweet boys: Daniel and Andrew. One of her favorite Bible verses is Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” This serves as a daily reminder of the importance of being faithful to the Lord in all things. Anne feels blessed to be embarking on this journey in Christian education at MCA this year.My name is Flint Weed. I come to MCA with nearly two decades of experience in music education, including 13 years at Sherman High School and six years at Tom Bean. During his time at SHS, he led the marching band, the sweepstakes-winning Symphonic Band, and the Jazz Cats, inspiring students through both performance and passion. Flint was an All-State Euphonium player and holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from West Texas A&M University and a master’s from Texas A&M University–Commerce. Flint lives in Anna with a family of all girls: his wife, Valerie, and their daughter, Breah. When he’s not making music, Flint enjoys skating, watching sports, playing video games with Breah—and spending time with their two cats, Daisy and Myrtle.My name is Karen Coldren from San Diego, CA and moved to Melissa in 2022. My husband, Joseph, and I have 2 beautiful little girls- Ruby and Amelia. I have been a teacher for six years, teaching both second and third grade. I love to shop, play pickleball, and cheer on the Los Angeles Chargers every Sunday during football season. We attend Life. Since moving to Texas in 2007, I’ve had the joy of teaching both Kindergarten and Preschool, and most recently, I’ve served as a substitute in MCA’s Lower School. My husband, Kyle, and I are high school sweethearts and will celebrate 20 years of marriage in January. We have two amazing kids at MCA—Aubrey, who will be a junior this year, and Benjamin, who’s starting first grade. I have had the opportunity to work in both public and private school education. My family and I have lived in Melissa for 13 years. My husband Zach and I grew up in the Corpus Christi area and have been married for 27 years. We have two daughters. Reese recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with her nursing degree, and Rylee is currently a sophomore at Texas A&M University. Outside the classroom, I enjoy going on walks, playing pickleball, and spending time with family and friends.My name is Kelly Rothacker (Coach Rothy). I have worked as a Learning Specialist at another private school for the last 7 years. I am also the varsity assistant volleyball coach and have loved working with our girls. Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outside (when it’s not a million degrees), and watching college football.I grew up in Plano and graduated from the University of Kansas—ROCK CHALK! I’ve always been a huge college sports fan, and that passion led me into a career in athletics. I got my start at the Fiesta Bowl and then spent the past 12 years managing the National Championship Trophy for the College Football Playoffs. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and I have been teaching for 17 years. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, and I love watching children grow in both knowledge and in their walk with the Lord. My husband, Jon-Michael, and I have two wonderful children who attend MCA. Our son, AJ, who is in 7th grade, and our daughter, Ally, who is in 3rd grade.Hello everyone! I’m Ann Marie Tennison. With a background as an educator & a business owner of a small-format children’s museum, I am truly excited to begin my new role as the Annual Giving Officer at McKinney Christian AcademyMy name is Tanetha Corbin Holley I work in the middle school office as part of the administration team and coaches 6th grade PE as well as Middle School track and field. I am also a proud mom of two MCA students, Camden (9th grade) and Cohen (6th grade). I am passionate about discipling middle school students, helping them grow deeper in their relationship with Christ through sports and daily interactions.My name is Lindsey Bini and I taught special education in public schools for 11 years in both elementary and middle school before stepping away to stay home with my three children- Mason, Savannah, and Ava. Our family has been a part of the MCA community for the past two years, and next year, all our children will be at MCA. I earned my degree in Special Education from Texas A&M University and hold certificates in EC-12 Special Education as well as English as a Second Language. Carrington Lansford is currently a freshman and attending her fifth year at MCA. She enjoys playing basketball in the winter, cheering in the fall, and running track in the spring. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. This is her first year in newspaper as a staff writer and she is excited to be a part of it.
