Today was a special day at McKinney Christian Academy as we held our first Founder’s Chapel of the year. Best-selling author and International Human Rights Attorney, Virginia Prodan, spoke to the Upper and Middle School students today. Prodan grew up in Romania as a true believer in Christ and stood up for what she believed in. Due to her country being run by a true dictator, she couldn’t really be true to her faith publicly without being persecuted by the government. Prodan had had enough of being silenced for her faith and decided to go to law school with dreams of one day being able to speak up for the truth. She quickly rose in her role after graduating from her class in the top 10 percent. Finally, the government came after Prodan and sent an assassin to kill her at her home. The Lord was speaking into Prodan’s heart to preach the gospel to her assassin to save her life and his soul. “You are as bold as a lion, you just don’t know it yet,” claimed Prodan. Her book, “Saving My Assassin”, offers a more in-depth look into her interactions with the Lord as she navigated her difficult journey. Prodan finally moved to the United States in 1988 and graduated from law school at SMU. She raised three children while she was here and claims it was all because of God’s plans over her life. “Your biggest dream means nothing compared to God’s dreams for your life,” claims Prodan. Her work caught the attention of then-President Ronald Reagan, who gave Prodan and her family a political refugee visa to come to America. Prodan ends with, “I’m not a hero, I’m a tool for God’s hands. He created us for a unique mission.”

Grey Royal, staff writer
Grey Royal is currently a freshman and entering her fifth year at McKinney Christian Academy. She enjoys cheering for her school during the fall and winter seasons. However, during the spring, she runs track for the school. In her free time, she spends most of her time cheering competitively. Grey is excited for her first year of writing as a staff writer for the Mane Edition and is grateful for this opportunity.
Her favorite bible verse is Psalms 91:7-8, which reads:
“A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes of the punishment of the wicked.”
