During the week of March 6, 2026, a group of Freshmen from McKinney Christian Academy went on a mission trip to Costa Rica. On Friday, they traveled from Texas to Costa Rica. The next day, they did a Family Festival Community Outreach at partner school El Puente and went to El Cocal to play with the kids and do missions work. Some of the students also went on a Prayer Walk and went door to door praying for families and individuals. On Sunday, the students went to a Beach Church where 2 students got baptized and later traveled to Manuel Antonio National Park. On Monday, the students returned to El Puente for an assembly and to say goodbye to the kids before traveling to a different part of the country. On Tuesday, the MCA group had a day of fun activities going ziplining, exploring an organic farm, and going to a hot spring. On Wednesday, they traveled to their final destination, had a fiesta, and did some salsa dancing lessons. Then on Thursday, the students returned to Texas. When asked about how the trip went Freshman, Madison Diedrick, said: “I think the trip was one of the best experiences of my life. It had a big impact on my life, and one of the kids I met there was so special to me, and I want to go back sometime”.Students get ready to zip line.Group of students donate to school. Carrington Lansford is currently a freshman and attending her fifth year at MCA. She enjoys playing basketball in the winter, cheering in the fall, and running track in the spring. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. This is her first year in newspaper as a staff writer and she is excited to be a part of it.
Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13,
” I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
