MCA Girls Basketball Defeats Lucas Christian

The McKinney Christian Academy Women’s basketball team beat Lucas Christian.

On Tuesday, November 11, the McKinney Christian Academy Lady Mustangs secured an impressive 32–21 victory over the Lucas Christian Warriors. From start to finish, MCA maintained control of the game, never giving up the lead. Sophomore, Elizabeth Thompson, led the charge with a standout performance, scoring 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Sophomore, Petra Westra, added six assists, setting up key plays that kept the offense moving, while freshman, Carrington Landsford, made her presence known on defense with five steals. Sophomore, Lyric Scott, battled hard on the boards, contributing eight rebounds to round out a strong team effort. Reflecting on the win, Landsford shared, “The game was super fun! I can tell our hard work paid off, and I’m so proud of our team.”

The Lady Mustangs look to carry their momentum into their next matchup on Friday, November 14, against Coram Deo.

Lincoln Pogue has been at MCA since Pre-K and is currently a junior. This is his second year taking newspaper, and he is looking forward to writing about all of the fun sports that MCA offers. Lincoln plays soccer and baseball. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family. His favorite memory is winning the state championship in baseball as a sophomore. Lincoln is excited to support MCA by contributing to The Mane Edition as the staff writer. His favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.”

Cana Heckadon has attended MCA since sixth grade and is currently in her sophomore year. This is her second year in newspaper, and she is excited to develop a new skill and make new friends. Cana’s primary sport is basketball; however, she also enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her favorite memory is of her trip to San Pedro, Belize, where she met many new people. Cana is looking forward to enhancing photography for The Mane Edition. With the LORD on her side, she lives by her favorite Bible verse, Luke 6:38 ” Give, and it will be given to you.”
