On Friday, February 13, MCA celebrated the construction of the new building with a groundbreaking ceremony. At this event, board members Dan Brooks and Eric Sebastian spoke. Songs were performed by Freshman, Madelyne Swan, with McKenzie Hope on violin. Many city officials, including the mayor, attended this event. Headmaster, Mr. Nivens, shared his thoughts on the ceremony, saying, “What a momentous occasion for McKinney Christian Academy. The groundbreaking for the Equipping for Tomorrow campaign and its buildings will allow us to complete our upper school campus with state-of-the-art science labs, engineering and creative spaces, mathematics instruction classrooms, and computer labs. In addition, the multipurpose building will serve as our second safety shelter on campus and provide flexible space for school and community use. None of this would have been possible without God’s faithfulness, His provision, and the gifts and tireless support of our Board of Trustees, School leadership and faculty, parents, donors, and community partners. ” When asked about the importance of the ceremony, Mr. Nivens said, “It is our belief that these facilities will allow us to prepare students for careers that do not yet exist. However, the groundbreaking ceremony represented more than buildings. It represents the commitment to fulfilling our mission of teaching students to live biblically and honor Christ through the education of mind, body, and spirit.”
