Monday night, February 19, the Varsity Girls soccer team played Dallas Covenant in the TAPPS State Semifinals. The team travelled to TCA Addison for their playoff game despite the rainy weather. The Mustangs played Covenant for the fourth time this season; losing twice in the three previous games. It was imperative for the Lady Mustangs to win in order to advance to the State Championship. Neither team scored throughout the duration of the entire game, forcing the teams to go into overtime. Twenty eight seconds into overtime, the goalie spilled the ball and Junior Emma Thompson followed up, scoring the winning goal for the Mustangs. This year’s team is the first in MCA soccer history to make it to a State Championship. The Lady Mustangs play Friday, February 23, for a State title at Waco ISD Stadium at 11:00 a.m. School is cancelled so come out and support your Lady Mustangs.
