TAPPS State Wrestling Tournament

The MCA Wrestling Team wraps up the season by placing fourth at the TAPPS State Wrestling Tournament hosted by MCA.

The MCA Wrestling Team placed fourth at the TAPPS State Wrestling Tournament.

This weekend MCA hosted the annual TAPPS State Wrestling Tournament. The tournament consisted of twelve teams and it took place on Saturday, February 17th. MCA competed very well in the tournament and placed fourth overall as a team. The wrestling team won a plaque and a banner to show this accomplishment. MCA also had many individual wrestlers who placed at the tournament. Caleb Doyle,11, placed second in the 180 pound weight class. Will Harrell, 12, placed first in the 172 pound weight class. Rex Collins, 11, placed second in the 160 pound weight class. Graham Kraft, 11, placed fourth in the 152 pound weight class. Cort Doyle, 9, placed second in the 113 pound weight class. Nate Gwynn, 9, placed second in the 106 pound weight class. Caleb Doyle said, “Our fans came out to support us and we wrestled very hard. The freshman fought hard and they stepped up when we needed them.” Most MCA wrestlers wrapped up their season with the conclusion of the TAPPS State Wrestling Tournament but a selected few will compete in Prep Nationals. The wrestlers competing in Prep Nationals are Caleb Doyle, Will Harrell, Rex Collins, and Cort Doyle.
