Mustangs varsity wins two in district finale series

Tuesday, April 13 the Mustang varsity baseball team celebrated Senior Night as they hosted the Bishop Dunne Falcons for the first of a two-game series. Senior Ryan Radtke threw a complete game shutout in six innings as the Mustangs run-ruled the Falcons 10-0. Senior Shane Vanderhagen started things off with a two-run home run in the first inning. The Mustangs’ offense compiled ten hits on the day with senior Jacob Finke, senior Hudson Cross, and freshman Jax Marshall all getting multiple hits.

The next day, April 14 the Mustangs travelled to Bishop Dunne and completed the sweep with a 9-0 win. Senior Cooper Roach got the win on the mound and racked up 15 strikeouts in six innings. Vanderhagen and junior Greg Jessup both had multiple RBIs to extend the lead over the Falcons. “It feels great coming off two big wins to finish district play. We are a great team with a lot of room to grow. ” Roach said when asked about the win.

The sweep on the Falcons ended district play for the Mustangs with a 5-3 record. Next week, the Mustangs have three games in preparation for the playoffs. Monday, April 19 the Mustangs host Shelton School at home at 4:30 p.m. then play Coram Deo Wednesday, April 21 at 4:30 p.m. at home, and then travel to Shelton on Friday April 23 to finish the series at 4:30 p.m.
