After a big victory against Grapevine Faith in the semifinals, the Middle School Softball team advanced to the championship. Thursday, April 29 the Middle School Softball team played in the championship against Prince Of Peace. Seventh-grader, Katherine Abouzeid, led the team with the first run in the third inning. Eighth grader, Jasmine Nordstrom followed with a run in the next inning. In the 5th inning, eighth grader Ella Van Voorst scored along with seventh graders Sadie Zbranek, Riley Jones and Katherine Abouzeid and sixth grader Madison White. Unfortunately, The Mustangs fell short, losing 16-7. As the eighth graders season comes to a close, Tessier said, “I am proud of our success and I think we played to the best of our ability. The team has grown so much on and off the field and many new friendships were formed.” These girls fought hard and had a great season, finishing second in TAPS district.
Every year, at the end of the season, each team participates in an end-of-season party, celebrating all of their accomplishments that season and giving players awards. There are three awards given out each year, the Mustang Award, Most Outstanding, and Most Improved. The Mustang Award is an award that goes to the player who shows Christ-like attributes and is hard working. This year the Mustang Award was given to Van Voorst. The Most Outstanding Award goes to the player who is most valuable and leads the team through the season. This award was given to Tessier. The Most Improved Award goes to the player that has shown the most growth and development throughout the season. This award was given to Abouzeid.
