On Tuesday March 28th, McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team hosted The Brook Hill School in a district matchup. The Mustangs have failed to beat the Guards the past four years they have played them. Sophomore Marc Jensen got the ball to start the game, and had a three-n-out top of the first. Moving to the top of the second the Guards score a run giving them a 1-0 lead over the Mustangs. After four hard fought innings, the score wouldn’t change until junior Jax Marshall hit a game tying home run in the bottom of the sixth. The Guards would answer giving them a run of their own with a homerun to start off the seventh inning making it 2-1.

Down by 1 going into the last inning of regulation, sophomore Teague Spivey drew the lead off walk to start the inning. Sophomore John Clark would follow that by hitting a single into right field to move the runner to second. After a passed ball by the catcher, Junior Connor Jarzombek hits a ground ball to second base to score and tie the game. In the top of the eighth, junior Landen Jones took over on the mound and got the Mustangs back into the dugout after 5 batters and no runs scored. Marshall led off the top of the eighth by hitting a double, that would be enough for sophomore Judd Witte as he hit a ground ball down the third baseline to score Marshall and walk off the game. Jensen earned the win throwing 107 pitches going 7.0 innings pitched, six hits, two earned runs, one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Mustangs improve to 5-0 in district and will be travelling to Bullard to play Brook Hill in the second game of the series looking for a sweep on Friday.
