On Friday, August 30, the Mustangs held their first pep rally of the school year in the Student Life Center. The pep rally was neon-themed and students of all ages went all out in their bright-colored clothes. The pep rally started with a performance by the cheerleaders followed by a cover of Glorious Day from the worship team. The cheerleaders then finished with another longer performance, including the varsity football team and the Mustang mascot at the end. Following the performances, three games of tug of war were hosted for the students to watch. Junior, Tatum Barnard, competed against senior, John Clark. After the match, Barnard was asked about her thoughts and said, “It was a tough loss, but I’ll get him next time.” The two other matches were junior, Jasher Massingale, versus senior, Hannah Massingale, and Coach Alfonso Martinez versus Coach Nathan Hamilton. To end the pep rally, the students sang the MCA fight song led by the senior class.
The next pep rally will be held on Friday, September 13.
