On Friday, February 28, the McKinney Christian Academy Varsity baseball team took a bus down to Waco, Texas for the Live Oak Classic hosted by the Live Oak Falcons. In the tournament’s first game, the Mustangs faced off against Brook Hill. This team had knocked the Mustangs out of the state semifinals last year, so this game meant more than just a tournament match for both the coaches and players. Senior Marc Jensen started on the mound for the Mustangs. He only gave up three runs throughout the game, while the offensive side scored 16. The final score was 16-3 in favor of the Mustangs. In the tournament’s second game, the Mustangs faced off against Pantego. In this game, Senior Jackson Johnson started on the mound. The Stangs won 3-0. In the tournament’s final match, the Stangs faced off against the host school, Live Oak. The Stangs got ahead quickly thanks to Senior Teague Spivey smashing a home run. The Mustangs won 7-4; with that win, they took home the tournament championship—Spivey, Jensen and sophomore Josh Anderson were named All Tournament team.
