On Monday, December 8, the McKinney Christian boys soccer team opened their district play with an impressive 12-1 victory over Garland Christian. The Mustangs came out strong, scoring the first two goals of the game within the first 15 minutes. Garland Christian responded with a goal of their own, cutting the lead to 2-1, but that would be the last time the Swords found the back of the net. From there, McKinney Christian took control of the match, dominating possession and adding seven more goals to seal the win. Senior Hudson Clayton led the charge with four goals, while seniors Grady Rodgers and Noah Melton each contributed two goals. Senior Kody Zbranek scored once, and junior Luke Dreffs added another goal. Junior Noah Faulkner, who played goalkeeper for the first time since Middle School, shared his thoughts on the game: ” This game was really fun to play in because we controlled the game very well, and it was fun getting to go in at goalie for the first time in a while.” With the win, the Mustangs kicked off their district campaign with a commanding victory. McKinney Christian will return to action on Thursday, December 11, against Tyler All Saints.
