The McKinney Christian Academy Mustangs baseball team started their season strong with an amazing 23–1 win over Dallas Covenant in their season opener. Coming off a state championship win last season, the Mustangs showed right away that they are ready to make another title run. The Mustangs’ offense was explosive from the first inning, scoring early and often. Senior, Tennyson Clark, had a great game with going 2-3 hitting a single and a home run to get the team going. The lineup stayed aggressive throughout the game, applying constant pressure on Dallas Covenant’s defense that Mustangs rallied in the second inning 18 runs. Junior, Ian Mulligan, started on the mound and dominated. He pitched the first two innings, he faced six batters and had five strikeouts. Sophomore, Cal Miller, shared this about the game: “It was a great way to start the season, and I can’t wait to see where this team goes.” With the season opener in the books, McKinney Christian looks focused on continuing their success and running it back for another state title. The Mustangs will play next on Saturday, February 7, when they take on Lake Country.
