On Monday, May 11, select students were inducted into the National Honor Society. NHS is a nationwide organization for high school students. NHS members at McKinney Christian Academy are students who consistently represent attributes of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. There are also requirements that have to be met in order to be a part of this organization. Those requirements include a submission of a membership packet, exhibiting and maintaining a 3.50 minimum high school GPA, a maximum of 8 total days absent in any academic year, no behavioral detentions or repeated violation detentions, Saturday schools, school suspensions, or any MCA code of conduct, honor code, or sportsmanship code of conduct violations, exhibiting and maintaining NHS chapter and MCA standards in character, conduct, and servant leadership, exhibiting and maintaining NHS chapter and MCA standards in community service and regular attendance of monthly NHS chapter meetings. This event began with the NHS advisor at MCA, Jamie Oberdieck, recognizing the current members. Followed by that, new members stood up and recited the induction pledge. After the inductees said their pledge, they came up one by one to sign their names in the induction book. Next, they received their certificates from the Upper School Principal, Kyle Morill. Lastly, senior members were presented with their stoles, which they will wear at graduation on May 14. After the ceremony, Jamie Oberdieck says, “It’s encouraging to see that a large percentage of our student body values scholarship and service.”
