On Thursday, November 2, McKinney Christian Academy held its annual Night of Worship. The evening started off with worship led by Dusttin Pearson. The worship team, consisting of MCA parents and faculty, led a few songs, including “Firm Foundation” by Cody Carnes, “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, and “Great Are You Lord” by Matt Redman. In addition to the music, representatives from the nonprofit World Vision attended the event and spoke. Los Angeles Area Director Kailey Vanderbaan gave a brief message that challenged the audience. During her message, Vanderbaan said, “We at World Vision are called to show the love of God to others in far places, but you all can do so right here in your school and community every day!” After the message, Vanderbaan explained that families in attendance could take their picture and be chosen as a sponsor by children from various areas in Guatemala; many took part and decided to sponsor. The night ended with prayer at the cross led by the Head of School, Heath Nivens.
