On Friday, May 9, the McKinney Christian Academy varsity baseball team took the field at the University of Texas at Arlington for a high-stakes state semifinal clash against the Pantego Christian Cougars. Senior ace Marc Jensen, who is committed to Dallas Mountain View College, came out dealing. He opened the game with three dominant, scoreless innings, silencing the Cougars’ bats and setting the tone early. In the third inning, the Mustangs’ offense came alive, plating three runs to grab the lead. Pantego wasn’t going down quietly; however, they answered with two runs in the fourth. Both teams traded runs in the fifth, keeping the tension high, with McKinney Christian clinging to a 4–3 advantage. The sixth brought more of the same: a run apiece, pushing the score to 5–4. With the game on the line in the seventh, Jensen dug deep. Pitching a complete game, he slammed the door on the Cougars to lock in the win and send the Mustangs to the state title game. Less than 24 hours later, McKinney Christian was back under the lights on Saturday, this time facing Northland Christian for the TAPPS Division III State Championship. Senior Jackson Johnson took the mound and battled through the bulk of the game. In a bold move, the Mustangs returned to Marc Jensen on just a day’s rest, with only 16 pitches to spare after throwing over 90 the night before. The Mustangs stayed locked in a game filled with momentum swings and emotional highs. With Jensen shutting it down late, McKinney Christian edged out Northland Christian 9–8 in a nail-biting finish to capture the TAPPS DIII State Championship.
