On January 12, the McKinney Christian boys soccer team earned a decisive district victory over Lakehill Prep, showcasing persistence and second-half dominance in a 4–0 win. The Mustangs came out aggressive from the opening whistle, firing multiple shots on goal and controlling possession throughout the first half. Senior Hudson Clayton anchored the midfield, dictating the pace of play and creating scoring opportunities, but despite the pressure, McKinney Christian was unable to convert. The teams headed into halftime locked in a scoreless draw. The Mustangs wasted no time breaking through after the break. In the 48th minute, senior Kody Zbranek opened the scoring, igniting a surge of momentum. Just two minutes later, senior Noah Melton doubled the lead with a goal in the 50th minute. The offensive onslaught continued when Clayton found the back of the net in the 57th minute, extending the lead to 3–0. McKinney Christian wasn’t finished. In the 75th minute, junior Lincoln Pogue scored his first goal of the season, sealing the Mustangs’ dominant performance. Freshman Benaim Messay credited the team’s improved chemistry after halftime, “We played well and took a lot of shots, but in the second half we turned up our game and played together, and that’s how we won.” The Mustangs will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup on Thursday, January 15, against Bishop Gorman.
