On Saturday, October 19, McKinney Christian Academy held the Upper School Homecoming dance in the Student Life Center. From 8:00-11:00 pm, the students indulged in cotton candy, struck poses together in the photo booth, danced, and sang the night away. This year, MCA hired Oren Pajela to DJ the dance. The students sang along to songs like “HOT TO GO!” by Chappell Roan, “Party in the U.S.A.” by Miley Cyrus, and “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins. When asked about the dance, Upper School Principal Kyle Morrill said, “My favorite part is watching all of the girls walk in with their heels and quickly go barefooted for the rest of the night. It really shouldn’t be called a dance. It should be called a “jump,” because no one dances. Everyone jumps up and down all night, screaming out lyrics to Taylor Swift songs. I’m sure everyone has sore calf muscles after 2-3 hours. Fun times.” Freshmen Petra Westra exclaimed, “It was really fun, and it went by fast, the hype songs were really exciting and being with upper class friends was a great time.” Senior Judd Witte expressed, “My favorite part of hoco is always getting together with my friends and enjoying the night. Senior Hoco was awesome and a phenomenal last hoco.”
