On Tuesday, September 5, McKinney Christian Academy Upper School volleyball teams traveled to Bullard, Texas to play Brook Hill in their first district match of the season. The girls defeated Brook Hill, winning 3-1. The Mustangs played their first set winning 25-22. Senior Kylie Mullins says, “I think we played them really tight, up until the end. We got the upper hand.” The Mustangs fought hard in the second set but couldn’t pull through with the win. The score of the second set was 11-25. Sophomore Sadie Blake says, “There are definitely things we could fix and our energy got low.” The Mustangs finished the game out winning the third and fourth set with scores of 25-20 and 25-19. Junior Kadence Ackmann led the team with 15 kills on the night. Junior Mia Gunn had 17 digs and Senior Kaylin Starling had six blocks on the night. When asked about the game, Coach Drew Noah says, “We came together as a team, we put our best effort on the court, and mentally and physically outshined our competition.”
The Mustangs will travel to Dallas Covenant on Thursday, September 7, to face off in another district matchup.
