MCA Cheer Brings Home State Runner-up Trophy

On Monday December 4, the McKinney Christian Academy Varsity cheer team traveled to Belton, Texas to compete in the annual TAPPS state competition. The team gained the title of State Runner-Up in the 4A Spirit Squad division. Juniors, Elise Winston and Libby Davenport received first team all-state. Junior, Rachel Jones, also got 2nd team all state. Junior, Destiny Margraves said, “I am very proud of everyone and how hard we worked. We put so much time and dedication into this routine and it really shows.”

Audrey Wedemeyer is a sophomore and has been at MCA since her freshman year. This is her second year in newspaper and she is excited to update others on what occurs at MCA. She also participates in ensemble choir and varsity cheer at MCA. In her free time, Wedemeyer enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling and singing. She has attended Cottonwood Creek church ever since she was little and volunteers every other Sunday. She's looking forward growing in her faith and building new relationships. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Corinthians 1:28 "God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something."
